The paper industry in Spain endorsed in 2000 the voluntary Agreement on Effluent Management that was renewed in 2005. This agreement about the water use and the effluents in the pulp and paper sector has facilitated a 38% reduction of effluents in the sector. Therefore it is considered a very efficient Agreement for a sustainable water management. Its main success was due to the implementation of advanced technologies.
